Blog

Back pain can be one of the hardest things to live with because your back is such a vital part of the body. When you are experiencing pain in your back, common, everyday tasks can become painful and in some cases, too hard to do. Treating chronic back pain is sometimes about treating the underlying issue but it is becoming more common to treat the pain itself as a separate issue then treat the cause of the pain.

Common Causes Of Back Pain

Pain can be a side effect of a lot of different things or a sign of bigger issues. If you are spending every day in pain, seeking the advice of a doctor is critical. In some cases, pain may be a result of a misalignment of the spine, muscle fatigue, systemic diseases, injury, or arthritis. While sometimes, chiropractic care may be the simple solution, there are times when the pain needs to be managed daily with medication and long-term physical care then the reason for the pain can be addressed. If the pain is debilitating, the first concern is to relieve the pain and for someone that has been in pain for years, that may be the one thing they care the most about.

Medication For Treatment Of Pain

There are many new drugs being used to treat chronic pain. Pain management drugs like ibuprofen and stronger narcotics are of course on the list, but increasingly, doctors are using more non-traditional drugs that were prior considered only for depression and mental disorders. The reason that these drugs work to reduce depression is pretty well known but in some cases, the effect of relieving pain is not completely clear. Tricyclic antidepressants all seem to be effective in some treatment of pain though these medications are not pain medications.

Physical Treatments

In cases where the pain is being caused by a physical problem like a misalignment of the spine, a chiropractor and help reduce that alignment issue through manual manipulation. For some people, see the chiropractor once or twice a week makes all the difference in the world. If a weekly visit to the chiropractor is helpful, the need for medications can be lower and the quality of life, better. Give the chiropractor a try if you think it could work and see what the results are. You may be surprised at the difference that if makes for the body and mind too.

Relief from Tension Headaches

Ever since childhood, I’ve been a driven person. Even as a young kid, I always strived to make good grades. With my schoolwork, I was never satisfied unless I made a perfect score. As an adult, I still tend to be a perfectionist. For instance, I won’t leave my home until every hair is in place on my head. In my career, I work diligently to please my many clients. Unfortunately, my perfectionist nature often causes me to become tense. Whenever I’m stressed about something, the muscles in my neck and shoulders become extremely tight. Sometimes, this issue leads to tension headaches. Thankfully, I know where to go when I begin experiencing muscle tightness. I visit my trusted chiropractor. On this blog, you will discover the methods a chiropractor uses to relieve tension headaches.
